For the song, It worked better to get some of the more inspired stuff up front first, then cut down anything I felt threw off the pace. This is the first time my sample came as a customer. I plan to ask my longtime friend DJE3 if he can mentor me in making my own beats, but this got I.S. moving forward to new ways. I learned a lot and tried some new things, without worrying about understanding it all, just listening for the changes.

One Angel's Fire: "Changeless"

These lyrics came together in Southern California. Only this winter can we put it on in the Celebration Style!
Check it out. What do you think? Feedback keeps the fires fed.

If you do like that, why not this? A ballad, closest harmonies we do, studio vocals and gives you a little bit of hope, whatever your story today. All right? All right!! And thanks for listening! I think she's so talented. I'm figuring out how to convey her better. She's active in creating beats, and makes the melody here. Who is looking forward to some live video, now?

While we figure that out, here's the audio, with pictures throughout our trail as Integr8d Soul. We were Lead From Within when we got off the bus. The name change is a swap with the album title, Integr8d Soul.
Eternal, though, first time he ever sat in our one room apartment, got excited and told us: "That's the name!"
And so it's been and will be.

Those Hours by Integr8d Soul - book us soon, Boulder!

Five months after we left Taco Bell, I sit down with the mix in DAW. I think this has got to be close enough for rock and roll right now. I will try to make two new song recordings and start saying Hey to the venues and local music lovers.
Thanks for all y'all's love and support. We really love sending this out to be part of your lives.- LL
Here are we, day before, our first kiss Came unexpectedly, under a sign you won’t miss You’re beautiful, looking up for it, angel, I’ll take you above It’s my joy to be good to you, someone is falling in love

All of the sacrifice, transcendence has never been cheap though it’s free- all the beans and rice- here’s my hand, together we’ll leap

We’ve got to put in those hours, those hours those hours so we can save what’s ours, all ours, all ours Time that we work so hard, so they can build those towers But I still love you, this dream is ours, all ours You can have your own copy to enjoy. https://integr8dsoul.bandcamp.com/track/those-hours Check out this spot: https://youtube.com/shorts/uDX3YQTPZAI?feature=share Word-of-Click?

I am a star, once more: Something Not Quite There (live)

Powerless and Helpless, I am made to feel like a child in the dark of night whirling, spinning, cycle of fear Why remove me from security, turning angrily, towards some unknown always hoping to find that which is out my back door I catch a fleeting glimpse of something not quite there class="separator" style="clear: both;">

Night Whorl - a country night sky duet

This one goes back to our undergrad days, so it was really sang by bonfires out in Sweet, the forest containing The Dome, near Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The Evening sky is all we know Never did you wonder: where did a star go? Beneath the anger of never giving in at once, is beautiful, where two or three would send
Oh! Feel the Night Whorl Carrying a cricket's song to a sky without end
Angels building angles at piling fractal speed making sense to intelligence knowing when is growing tense
The edge of nothing touches nothing anyway keep all my secrets in your maiden head we will seek the surface, climbing high with possibility until the crashing tempest brings love inside us, again and again and again

Later - How long will this goodbye be? I.S. demo

HOw long will this goodbye be? I think that's the number one question you'd come away from with these lyrics. I deliberately wrote it in an effort to create a song with ambiguous purposes that conveys feeling emphatically and truthfully, nonetheless. I also think this stretches us out to the limit of what we can do with our present recording set-up without quite falling apart, so I hope you enjoy it, share it, and hang in there, the Dongle I needed for Pro Tools arrived yesterday!

Continue Playing live! And Whispered Words, Short Edit

OK! A short edit of the song I wrote on my birthday and proceeded to croak out for you:
https://www.reverbnation.com/integr8dsoul/song/29131542-whispered-words-short-edit

AND: from the holidays, our live performance of "Continue Playing"! I've been very excited about this song...it never fails to pick up my spirits. The live version's pretty clean and direct.
https://www.reverbnation.com/integr8dsoul/song/29131536-continue-playing-live-for-ellie

I made the short edit of "Words" to fit a birthday CD I burned. Is it better with less words and one less chorus? I don't know...different though! I kept the stronger parts, vocally, but there is something about that full set of words, too, as you can see on my previous January post.

Just recovering from a bad cold...still not quite up to singing strength. Demoing a song written for Delores O'Rioridan, r.i.p., the day she died. If you're a Cranberries fan, you might not want to miss it...but if it's covered by the singers to whom I offered it, I think you'll be properly amazed! We'll see.

Whispered Words (full version)

1.Are you lonely as Eleanor Rigby?
Empty your mind of the mournful
like a refugee fleeing from violence
breaking the inside world when we’re born full
of Love oh but we’re helpless
Nurtured with kindness Nurtured with kindness
like the natural state of our spirits
we often just need someone to remind us
chorus
Next to silence change like the moon
Take care now of all that you’ve heard
Sometimes friends are just people to think of
heart to imagine whispered words

2. When you can’t word the suicide note
in a way that won’t leave anyone for whom
you care feeling hopeless
just put it off live another day
hope will find you other ways

Just know I think of you
probably more than you realize
anti-anything isn’t as strong
as the love that illuminates real lies

chorus
Next to silence change like the moon
Take care now of all that you’ve heard
Sometimes friends are just people to think of
heart to imagine whispered words

Whispered Words by Integr8d Soul

This song came to me on my birthday. I wrote the words (with one introspective shower in between) after hearing the title phrase, almost as though sung by young Elton John, on a pad on my bed. I felt I had a lot of things to talk about, but I find songs often use phrases loaded with meaning rather than spell things out in clear prose, so here's everything that related to the creative moment.

I started with a different chord progression. I have a 34 min. recording where I begin that progression, try singing over it, then move into the form you find here! I then immediately recorded it, singing the best I could, which is not saying much- but maybe you have to be vulnerable sometimes to really reach people. It's just more sincere.

Speaking of sincerity, it's a very heart-felt song about people struggling through difficult states of being, but I'm happy to report that I told a very tired, hard-worked person the content of verse two and we both had a good laugh about its somewhat dark quandary. Then I let her read verse one off my notepad and she burst out laughing! I really do see the verses as being pretty funny while they were also written in all seriousness, too. It gives me hope that the song's speaking multitudes of meaning that will broaden its appeal.

That's it! I look forward to re-recording in Pro Tools, but it did mean something special to me, so if you can pardon its rough edges, you might enjoy it. Will it leave you in thought? Will it downright offend you? Will it just leave a catchy piano riff behind? Give it a try. For that, I thank you.

It's the music of Creating Marvels, by Integr8d Soul!

All right! In the better late-than-never dept., I managed to overlook loading this up for Angela's birthday, which I did at least celebrate with her in fun fashion. AT the time I wanted to make good use of my podcast space while I was waiting to hear from more guests, so I put together a way you could hear the songs I use for my drops. My Pro Tools set-up, long-promised, should be ready this month, and then you'll get to hear everything in higher fidelity. Then wait til we take it into the studio early next year...
HEre's the direct download code:

Anyway, enjoy the songs.

A gentle one: It Can Be Like That (a love story)

“It Can Be Like That”

AS I think of you, falling asleep
there’s not much in my many memories to keep
me from waking you with the gentlest touch
and sweeping you up when the feeling’s so much
and it’s lately been that way
just like an early day

I’d give up gladly anything that I own
for a glimpse of your face, I might take out my phone
pictured there on my arm with an angel-like charm
for you’ve earned peaceful sleep
but I’m raptured so deep

when we sing together, cling together
It can be like that
and what years that we know, and what wrinkles may grow
if we keep this fine art, of our love from the start
It can be like that.
It can always be like that.

When I see young love in the making anew
and I hear of whispered words that will ever be true
I see them in the hearts of the lucky ones old
who hold hands and hang on when the years become gold
for it’s all the same
never end this game

For there’s days, many days, that pass in our eyes
and should time make them dim, here’s a word to the wise:
that the first flush of feeling that you find so appealing
needs permanent room
hidden safe from the gloom

and just walk together, talk together
it can be like that
and what years that we know, and what wrinkles may grow
if we keep this fine art, of our love from the start
It can be like that.
It can always be like that.

And it’s heart felt to say, I’m not that kind of man
who can never be found when he finds a new plan
when you’ve got to get a grip, reach for that same hand
for like fingerprints, the pattern remains
even after pitter-patter, and so much for our brains

Over seas together, please together,
no I’ll never complain
If we cling together, sing together
unbroken ring together
long as the sun reflects on the moon
and deep as midnight, yet brighter than noon
when we walk together, talk together
it can be like that
we return like spring and everything
I ever loved in you
it stays on my mind
and we’ll always find
it can be like that

it’s our fling, together, wings together
that’s how we’ll fly
when we love together, love forever
across the sky
and we’ll cry together, why together
we could smile
of our love forever, love together
it can be like that

It can always be like that.

Flying in Dreams: Integr8d Soul's Drifter (Skyward) by C Lue

I never plan to write a song, you know?

Drifter (Skyward)

I stopped to say good bye to a recent friend we’d made
we took a book of Batgirl comics, which on her bed she laid
her dreams of knowledge started, her things moved in the castle
it’s time to leave the castle now, so was it worth the hassle?

I went out to the flying craft, gave everyone a wave at length
it’d be so quick to pilot home, hang on and use my arm’s strength
and then I pushed the throttle forward, wheels rushed off the ground
then floating a-bove I waved at the students all around

Enough of all this scenery, and back to my machinery
I drifted to my next goodbye, he wasn’t one for hugs
but he’d seemed a friend so good enough we’d talk of Italy
I raised my machine high enough to stay above the trees

Drifter leaning skyward
it’s beautiful, you can take my word
you feel surrounding elements, you are so unprotected
but we just might fly to everywhere if we can stay connected

And there below inside the park, I saw you my best friend
playing ball with a child and family she lifted up her chin
I guided down my drifter to four point alight below
and I asked have you seen everyone I know it’s time to go
You said I wish we’d stayed to be the graduation ceremony
I knew you meant you hope it pays that a bachelor’s work’s not phony
we’d have a few hours to glide, we shouldn’t plan our stops
we might not make them all in time, then our friends might call the cops

to see if we had crashed in our dream drifter headed east
perhaps we’ll just surprise someone if we communicate the least
it’d keep us off the Internet, it’s too much information
when our dream’s to launch our flyer and glide all over the nation

Drifter leaning skyward
it’s beautiful, you can take my word
you feel surrounding elements, you are so unprotected
but we just might fly to everywhere if we can stay connected

So hang on to my drifter, and our wings will catch the wind
I can’t promise riches, places we won’t see again
and I hope the flight is worthy, for it’s cost me everything
but my time, and that, I’ll pay to climb on hopeful, steady wings

we’ll leave the campus quickly, once we push the throttle down
and we might need jobs that aren’t so much, we might need other towns
but where we go, we’ll always talk, and speed to skies above
so long as this craft can hold up, invention spreads the love

We fly with ease within our dreams, without a fear of heights
in this drifter we will travel light, above the city nights
some might want to fly like us, a few might help the way
we can make ground life more bearable, though misery might stay

The weather in this drifter may make travel incomplete
repairs require honesty and dollars that compete

Drifter leaning skyward
it’s beautiful, don’t just take my word
we feel surrounding elements, we are so unprotected
but we just might fly to everywhere if we can stay connected

Flyers high within our minds, in vivid dream’s pretend
but I know what’s real and beautiful, is making one best friend
Drifter bracing skyways
navigate the by-ways
soaring over high-ways
floating high again

Drifter bracing skyways
navigate the by-ways
soaring over high-ways
floating high again Cecil Disharoon/ Lue Lyron 8/23 11:05am

How Do I Start Making Comics? One Great Story at a Time

We are going to dip into the mailbag, or in this century, our messages, for this one from J. Wagner in Rome, GA.

Do you make comic books for a living? My daughter wants to and she is a really talented artist. Any advice?

Sure! Work with me! lol They are part of my living. I am going to make more money in the short term from paintings, but meanwhile I'm drawing the comic I hope will break us out in a big way. (That's Integr8d Soul Comics Number One, for those of you who are late to the party!)

I've drawn quite a few and had a small sell-out run of my 2011 comic D'n'A: The Mountain, which, like everything from California days, I need to get back into print. (I just want to do it with its sequel, because getting on bookshelves via Diamond is like murder if you're not a Trade Paperback.)

But I could go on and on. Is her passion Manga comics, btw? What are some of her favorite titles? My advice will vary a wee bit depending on her heart's desire, which she'll need to tap to not only conceive projects, but complete as many as humanly possible, too.

I will start with this: however great your characters, however much you love them, remember you need One Great Story. People have to start somewhere, so think up the life of a given character for a while and see what part of that life seems like a compelling place to tell just one complete and not-too-ungodly-long tale that leaves anyone hungry for more. It will mean so much to her if she gets positive reception for one single complete effort, even if she envisions years of epics embodied in her cast. When you really care about telling that one story, you work through any problems along the way and enjoy bringing a full piece of your vision to life, in a form people can now share.

Just get together an interesting conflict that unveils the inner character in some insight, with a beginning, middle, and end.

Bring something to a conclusion and you will trust yourself more. You will have a template then which you can repeat the rest of your artistic life, throwing in all the new challenges you take up along the way, telling new insights you get about people and making characters that get hung up in people's minds.

A Ballad for Trayvon Martin

It was a cold and rainy February day
Behind the gate’s supposed to be the safest place to stay
Walking home from the 7-11 with a tea and Skittles in his hand
Young Trayvon, just 17, will now never be a man (but he's more of a man than)

George Zimmerman called the 5-oh,
then decided to follow where he might go
Neighborhood could not watch as he caused woe.

Through the fire at nine years old, Tray saved his old man
But who could save him when the ground George stands
Becomes anywhere Trayvon ran?

2. On his way home to see the NCAA
On a lonely phone his girlfriend heard the last he’d say
“Someone’s watching me, but I don’t want to run”
Do you run for your life when you see a maniac with a gun?

Determined "another" won’t get away
Never listened when dispatch told him to stay
Zimmerman took his life away

(chorus) Come out, people, come out/ innocent memory we praise
Let life not hatred choose/ the color of our days
What is right for each of us/ need no color for our ways
What is right for each of us/ need no color for our ways
Come out, people come out in your colored rays
Ah, oh, when, Amen

My son, my son
oh my son
My son, my son
oh my son
Oh world...

3. And that phone lay far too long without an answer
After screams were borrowed as clumsy lies
For the Sanford police cancer
“It was self-defense” he said and they let him go
And for days they simply called Treyvon “John Doe”
And you’ve got to stand for what’s right
Even when there’s little light
So our children go not gently to that night

Come out, people, come out/ innocent memory we praise
Let life not hatred choose/ the color of our days
What is right for each of us/ need no color for our ways
What is right for each of us/ need no color for our ways
Come out, people come out in your colored rays
Awen, Amen

Come out, People, Come out
Come out, People, Come out
Come out, People, Come Out

The Stars

experimenting here with a song from a couple of years back.

Integr8d Soul
