Saint Angelina?

I know she's not everyone's cup of tea---who is? Let me quickly---since I was offline all day Saturday against my will---relay the story Angela shared with me.

Apparently when actress/ humanitarian Angelina Jolie and hubby Brad Pitt did a tour recently, they were fifteen Bosnian refugees canonized her as Saint Angelina. Why?
They'd all been homeless and, in that, helpless. The mayor of Rogatica said he'd been agitating for funding and aid for this problem for years, until Jolie's tour brought them attention. Go Angelina!

She's busy directing the controversial United Love Story. She's meeting with women's groups who called for her filming permit to be banned, in response to the portrayal of women in the movie. She's also submitted the script to the Cultural Minister of Bosnia for review, as she has promised this is not a political story. Bosnia's still rebuilding; it's hard for us to really relate to the ethnic divide that led to war in the 1990's, as bloodshed and horror became a daily reality.

I believe she's in Budapest now; the film's green-lighted again but her producers are trying to smooth things over still, according to recent news. This will be her directorial debut. Here's a very considered, measured essay on the matter: http://greatersurbiton.wordpress.com/2010/10/20/angelina-jolies-bosnian-imbroglio/

She's not everyone's cup of tea, and there has been quite a stir, but they've tried to sweet things and, let's face it, she's still hot.
